Fort WorthChemical Peels for a Refreshed Look

A chemical peel is a cosmetic treatment that uses a chemical solution to improve the texture and appearance of skin. It helps to reduce wrinkles, age spots, fine lines, and other skin conditions such as acne scars or sun damage.

The solution typically contains one or more of the following ingredients: trichloroacetic acid (TCA), glycolic acid, lactic acid, salicylic acid, or carbolic acid (phenol). This chemical solution will be applied to the face for about 15-30 minutes depending on the desired result.

At our Fort Worth MedSpa, chemical peel specialists perform a thorough consultation to determine which chemical peel treatment best addresses your skin concerns.

So have you noticed that your skin has an uneven tone with dark spots and discolored areas? Do you feel like your face is always oily and has fine lines, wrinkles, and a rough texture? Do you suffer acne? If yes, you have come to the right place for a solution that will put an end to these unwanted problems. At TaVieMD MedSpa, our highly trained physician is able to assess your skin and customize a chemical peel plan that will safely correct your skin problems.

Are Chemical Peels good for your skin?

Chemical peels can be excellent for the skin and are beneficial for many people when done correctly and with the right type of peel. Depending on your skin type, a chemical peel can help to reduce hyperpigmentation, uneven skin tone, wrinkles, age spots, blemishes, acne scars, sun damage and other skin conditions.

Some types of peels may not be suitable for all skin types, so it is important to consult with a doctor before undergoing the procedure. Additionally, you should not use chemical peels if you have active skin infections, eczema or any other skin conditions that make your skin vulnerable to further damage.

How long do Chemical Peel results last?

Chemical peel results can last for months or even years, depending on the type of peel and skin type. For excellent, long lasting results, we usually recommend a series of chemical peel treatments 4 weeks apart.

Generally, results of lighter peels such as glycolic acid or lactic acid peels may last up to a few months while deeper peels such as trichloroacetic acid (TCA) and carbolic acid (phenol) peels can last up to several years. In addition, chemical peels can be combined with other skin care treatments such as microneedling and laser skin rejuvenation for even better results.

What are the types of Chemical Peel Treatments?

Chemical peel treatments can vary in depth and strength, depending on the desired results and individual skin type. Superficial or light chemical peels are often made using mild acids such as alpha hydroxy acids (AHAs) and beta hydroxy acids (BHAs), which penetrate only the outermost layers of skin to exfoliate, remove dead skin cells and unclog pores.

Deep chemical peels and medium chemical peels are created with stronger acids such as trichloroacetic acid (TCA) and carbolic acid (phenol), which penetrate deeper into the skin to treat fine lines, fine wrinkles, deeper wrinkles, uneven pigmentation, age spots, acne scars, and much more.

At our For Worth facial MedSpa, during your initial consultation, we customize your peel treatment to achieve younger looking skin and a healthier glow.

Are chemical peels painful?

Chemical peels can cause varying levels of discomfort, depending on the type and depth of the peel. Superficial peels such as AHAs and BHAs generally cause minimal discomfort, while medium-depth peels such as TCA and phenol may be more uncomfortable.

The VI Peels are one of the least painful medium depth chemical peels as its formulation includes Phenol which has anesthetic effects thereby numbing the skin and resulting in a painless application. Some temporary discomfort lasting a few seconds may be experienced.

What are Chemical Peel side effects?

Chemical peels can cause a range of side effects, including burning, stinging, itching, swelling, and redness. These may last for a few days but up to a week after the procedure. In some cases, people may also experience blistering or scabbing. Additionally, some individuals may be more likely to experience adverse reactions due to their skin type.

People with darker skin tones may be more prone to hyperpigmentation, while those with rosacea or sensitive skin may find that their skin is too sensitive to tolerate the peel. It is important to consult with a doctor before getting a chemical peel to ensure that you are a good candidate for the procedure and to minimize any potential risks.

Our physician at TaVieMD MedSpa will be able to evaluate your medical history and determine if a chemical peel is right for you. They may also suggest alternative treatments if they deem the procedure too risky or unsuitable for your skin type. Additionally, they can provide advice on how to best care for your skin after the procedure to ensure maximum results and minimal side effects.

Is there any downtime after a Chemical Peel?

The down time after a chemical peel depends on the type and depth of the treatment. After application of the VI Peel or other chemical peels at TaVieMD, your skin will usually begin to peel on Day 2-3 and usually will complete peeling by day 7. Days 3 &4 are typically the heavy peeling days. Your skin will only peel what needs to be peeled.

Deeper peels such as TCA and phenol may require more than week of healing, during which skin may feel tight, dry, flaky, and sun-sensitive. Post-care instructions should be followed closely to ensure proper healing and optimal results.

What are the contents of the VI Peel?

The VI Peel contains 5 acids;

Retinoic acid (the powerhouse acid penetrates the skin, inhibiting melanin production and increasing cell turnover).

Trichloroacetic Acid (drives the blend deeper and targets signs of aging by boosting collagen and exfoliating the skin).

Salicylic Acid (prevents inflammation by killing bacteria, suppresses sebum production, and cleanses the pore lining).

Phenol (is the secret weapon that numbs the skin, allowing for a painless application).

Ascorbic Acid (a powerful antioxidant that reverses free radicals, evens skin tone, and helps prevent future damage).

How much is a Chemical Peel in Fort Worth Texas?

The cost of a chemical peel in Fort Worth TX varies depending on the type of peel used and the depth of the treatment. Generally, superficial peels such as glycolic or lactic acid peels can range from $100 to $200, while deeper chemical peels such as trichloroacetic acid (TCA) and carbolic acid can range from $200 to $500.

Additionally, if a person has a high risk of complications due to their skin type or medical history, the cost may be higher. It is best to consult with a skin care physician for an accurate estimate.

Why We Love Chemical Peels for Acne

When resurfacing the skin, chemical peels help eliminate debris and build up on the skin’s surface which cause breakouts. Doing a chemical peel on acne prone skin allows us at TaVieMD MedSpa to eliminate these causative factors and “reset” the skin. Chemical peels are also customizable so we can really tailor them to the individual client’s needs.
